TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of a Quran competition held in Iran to commemorate late Quran master Ali Arbabi were announced.

The 14th edition of the contest, titled Safir Mehrbani (ambassador of kindness) was organized online due to the coronavirus restrictions.

The participants competed in three categories: Quran interpretation and concepts for women, Tarteel recitation for men aged 17 to 50 and Tahqiq recitation for boys under 17.

Sara Rafeiei, Mohammad Javad Javeri and Mohammad Amin Kohan were announced as the top winners in each category, respectively.

Ali Arbabi was born in Tehran in 1939. He attended Master Khalil Rahman’s courses on Quran recitation in 1968 and continued his recitation practices more professionally by participating in Master Mowlaee’s classes.

Through his sincere love and devotion to the Holy Quran as well as his perseverance in learning the Holy Book and recording the recitations of prominent reciters of his time, Master Arbabi succeeded in training a large number of Quran reciters and teachers over 37 years of nonstop endeavors.

He also used to be an international referee in Quran recitation competitions.
